Resource Person: Dr. Md. Raisuddin Miah, Adviser, Water and Waste Water Treatment, Max Power Ltd., Former Director (Water Quality & Environment), Bangladesh Power Development Board
Dr. Md. Raisuddin Miah is a nationally and internationally reputed water treatment specialist possesses about 40 years practical field experience in industrial water & wastewater treatment including boiler & cooling water conditioning. His academic background is Hons & Masters in the discipline of Chemistry and Ph.D on Water Treatment.
Dr. Raisuddin started Govt. service as chemist in Bangladesh Power Dev. Board (BPDB) in 1975 posted in Goalpara Power Station, Khulna where he developed his professional specialization, expertise & skill in water treatment and water quality analysis. He was promoted to Chief Chemist and finally retired from the position of Director. He received extensive foreign training from different countries viz. UK, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. He has a number of records of experience to provide expertise service in project planning, process design, design evaluation, testing-commissioning, modification & optimization of WTP/WWTP, Hydrogen Generation Plant and Boiler & Cooling water conditioning and Chemical Cleaning of Boilers.
Dr. Miah attended many national & international water treatment seminar/symposium/workshop and conferences as invited Resource Person/ Keynote Speaker held in home and abroad. The Holland based International Desalination Association (IDA) recognized him as a Specialist Consultant in multiple branches of modern water treatment techniques. He has worked as a member of the expert committee of Indo-Bangladesh Joint River Commission (JRC). He has also worked with UNEP project of POPs Global Monitoring Program in Bangladesh under Stockholm Convention undertaken by DOE. In recognizing his outstanding expertise on water treatment techniques, BPDB honored him with a merit award during tenure of his service.
After retirement, he has served in different reputed private organizations as specialist consultant/advisor in relevant field. He has designed more than 100 WTP of diff. Cp up to of 800 m3/hr and 6 ETP of Cp up to 180 m3/hr. Dr. Raisuddin is a man of Shahzadpur, Sirajgonj born in 1950. He is a life member of BAAS and Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS).
